Chemicals are a pivotal part of many operations for the oil and gas industry. The purpose chemical application in subsurface reservoir is to decrease mobility ratio between displaced fluid displacing one or increase capillary number. These have been favorable mechanisms Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). Recently, it became mainstay with EOR researchers looking effective efficient materials that can be economically feasible environmentally friendly. Therefore, when development chemicals reached peak point by introducing nanosized materials, was wondrous interest EOR. Unlike other sizes, nanoparticles display distinct physical properties utilized multiple applications. vast amounts were examined terms formulation, size effect, condition, viscosity, IFT, wettability alteration. When holistic understanding aimed, necessary review recent studies comprehensively. This paper reviews most recently published papers general, emphasizing EOR, where these publications years 2018 2022. It covers thorough comparison using different techniques expected range recovery improvements. Moreover, this highlights gaps existing field-scale implementation NPs opens space research development. findings suggest selection best type an critical rock conditions, fluids type, mechanism, (surfactant/polymer/alkaline), concentration used flooding process, concentration.
